DEN1 Densitometer/ McFarland
A device used to measure the density of particles in liquids, especially the turbidity levels of liquids. This device is generally used to determine the concentration of solid particles (e.g. microorganisms, organic matter, contaminants) in liquids.
- Use with 12mm / 16mm and 18mm diameter test tubes.
- Measuring wavelength (λ): λ = 565 ±15nm.
- Accuracy (0.0–6.0 McF): ±3%.
- Measuring time: 1 sec.

Detect Turbidity in Your Liquid with Accuracy!”
Densitometer is used for measuring cell concentration (bacteria, yeast cells) during fermentation process, determining the sensitivity of microorganisms to antibiotics, identifying microorganisms using various test systems, measuring absorption at specific wavelengths, and quantitative measurements of the concentration of color solution absorbing green light.
Measurement range 0.00–15.00 McF
Sample volume at least 2 ml
Display resolution 0.01 McF
Suitable tube sizes: 12mm/16mm and 18mm diameter
Other Devices
It is designed to measure the turbidity of cell suspension in the range of 0.0–6.0 McFarland units (0–180 × 107 cells/ml).
The densitometer allows to measure solution turbidity in a wider range (up to 15.0 McFarland units).
The operating principle is based on the measurement of optical density with digital presentation of the results in McFarland units. The instrument is calibrated in the factory (for operation with 16 mm diameter glass tubes) and maintains its calibration without a power supply.
However, if necessary, it is possible to calibrate at 2–6 points in the range of 0.0–6.0 McFarland units.
